The Nigeria Eagles Supporters Club (NESC) played a novelty game in Ivory Coast to create awareness and canvass support for Nigeria ahead of the 2024 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
The game which collided with the the Nigeria Independence Day celebration saw the Ivory Coast chapter of NESC troop out to trade tackles with the Nigeria Community.
The game ended up in a 2-2 stalemate as both sides used the occasion to celebrate the independence day and unity of Nigeria.
Speaking to ECHONEWS, the President of NESC, Honorable Sunny Gullong used the occasion to wish Nigerians happy Independence day and said the purpose of the novelty game is to spring up support for the Super Eagles ahead of the AFCON tournament in Cote D’Ivoire in January.
Gullong revealed that, the avenue of the friendly game was to recreate the awareness of reaching the 30,000 supporters goal mark to drum support for the Eagles in Ivory Coast.
He added that, the motive for the friendly encounter have been achieved as so many Nigerians from the Nigeria community in Ivory Coast have indicated interest to be part of the NESC supporters club for the AFCON.
The novelty game was led by the chairman of Ivory Coast chapter of NESC, Adebisi Adesola, who was impressed with the turnout as he promised Nigeria of a mighty support at the AFCON.
