An Aero Contractors flight, N2130, scheduled to operate from Abuja to Lagos, was aborted on Wednesday evening, causing mild panic among passengers on board.
The aircraft was expected to depart at 6:50 p.m., but shortly after boarding, the air-conditioning system shut down, leading to a rapid rise in cabin temperature.
The situation caused distress among passengers, with children crying from the heat while some adults demanded to disembark to get fresh air.
About 10 minutes later, the flight crew announced that passengers would be transferred to another aircraft parked a few metres away on the tarmac.
The flight eventually took off at about 9:00 p.m., more than two hours behind schedule.
