Over 50 teams were invited to partake in the Adron Sports Foundation community/schools slam and dunk championship held at Milo basketball court, Ilupeju.

In the boys’ category, Wolves emerged champions by beating CDA to the second position.

Director of Operations, Adron Sports Foundation (ASF), Oladapo Emmanuel stated that the foundation is a youth-driven foundation which focuses on empowering and encouraging meaningful participation in sports.

He said: “Adron Sports Foundation is a youth-based, driven foundation that is focused on empowering and encouraging meaningful participation in sports. We have the vision to become the leading sports foundation, which is promoting grassroots sports development in Nigeria, Africa, and the world at large.

“All thanks to God, our Group Managing Director of Adron Homes and properties, Aare Adetola Emmanuelking whose vision is borne out of his passion for sport and the idea is to go to communities, and schools to search for talented kids who are sport driven and that was what brought about the basketball challenge we had at Ilupeju.”

Oladipo said the ASF chose basketball because of how dynamic it is as he revealed plans to look into other sports.

“We chose basketball because we are a very dynamic association, we tend not to limit the opportunities that are within our reach to just football. We understand that football is a popular sport but then basketball is also equally a very popular sport.

“We thought to carry everyone along and organize a basketball tournament that will help in locating talents, discover themselves, and encourage them to continue with their vision for basketball.

“We still have plans to look into football programs or tournaments, which will also help in discovering young football talents. We are an encompassing organization hence the need to organise basketball competitions.”
