Human rights activist and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has raised doubts over whether winners of the popular Big Brother Naija reality show actually receive their prize money.

Adeyanju, in a post on his X handle on Monday, questioned the credibility of the show’s prize distribution, claiming that many past winners appear to become financially unstable after their victory.

He wrote, “Do they really give BBNaija winners the prize money? The reason I am asking is because many of them end up looking extremely broke thereafter.”

His comment sparked widespread reactions on social media, with several users asking him to mention names of ex-housemates who allegedly did not receive their prizes.

Adeyanju’s remarks came barely 24 hours after Imisi was announced as the winner of the 10th edition of the Big Brother Naija reality show, walking away with a grand prize of ₦150 million.

The post also rekindled discussions around past controversies, including that of Phyna, the Season 7 winner, who has repeatedly accused the organisers of failing to deliver parts of her prize package.

While the organisers of the reality show are yet to respond to Adeyanju’s claims, his comments have once again drawn attention to transparency issues surrounding prize disbursement in major entertainment competitions.
