The Chairman of Isolo LCDA, Olasoju Adebayo, has encouraged Christian leaders in the council area to take advantage of the Lent period to pray for those in authority and the improvement of the country.

He made this call while hosting Christian leaders from the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) at a fast-breaking event on the council premises.

Olasoju praised the unity among the Christian body’s five blocs and emphasized the need for intensified prayer for the country’s peace and prosperity, citing Psalms 112 verse 6.

He stated that fervent prayers and positive affirmations are crucial in the current situation.

His words; “My humble appeal to you on this special occasion is to intensify your fervent prayer for our political leaders and encourage your congregation to do so. This was the Bible’s teaching 1 Timothy 2:1-2. Also in Psalms 122 verse 6, the Bible encourages us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem so that those who love it will know peace. Please, do more of what you’ve been doing.

“Americans will always prophesy positive affirmation about their country anyway any time, let’s keep encouraging our people to emulate this, we all have just one country and that’s Nigeria. The second stanza of our anthem is arguably a prayer, let’s show more love to our country and leaders,” Olasoju said.

Olasoju’s comments were followed by a prayer session for the council chairman, Isolo LCDA, Lagos State, and Nigeria, resembling a revival, before a special meal and provisions were given to the clergy members to end their fast.

CAN president, Bishop S.K. Adebayo, praised Olasoju’s unprecedented gesture, emphasizing his respect for both Christian and Islamic groups in the council.

Adebayo encouraged other council chairmen to emulate Olasoju’s leadership style and wished him continued success.

In the meantime, the interaction with Christian leaders did not disrupt the daily Iftar at the council secretariat, where the chairman joined fasting Muslims in the area to break their fast.
