There were rains of accolades on the ace on air personality, the most listened to newspaper review popularly known as Kokoonuuweroyin presenter, Alhaji Morufdeen Oluyege as he retired from the service of Radio Nigeria.
Oluyege, who joined the radio about 35 years ago, had worked as accounts and administrative officer before joining the programme department to become a presenter.
He became popular by presenting a popular morning Newspaper Review, Yoruba version known as Kokoonuuweroyi (Major news in newspapers).
With his colleague, Tunji Olalekan, Oluyege brought news on the daily newspapers to the large Yoruba speaking audience of Western Nigeria.
Workers of the radio station describe the ace presenter as a paragon of virtue and embodiment of good character.
The General Manager, Princes Adenike Wuraola Adegoke said: “Mr. Oluyege has ended well and that is why we are here to celebrate him. He has done so well right from administration department to Accounts department and to Programme where he is retiring from today.
“The best I know about him is raising the young ones. He has raised so many young ones on news casting.What his sojourn has taught us is to do our work well, allow others to rise and raise the young ones. All these Oloyege has done very well.
The Head of Presentation, National Broadcast Academy, Mr. Segun Akinoya described Oluyege as a committed member, who surpassed all other workers in the company.
He said: “Oluyege is very dedicated to work. He is more committed to broadcasting and Bond FM in particular.”
Akinoya, who gave lecture on the topic “Broadcasting and Retirement”, explained that Broadcasting represents life and all that are inside the life.
Akinoya, who noted that technology has taken over, urged broadcasters to be more versed in modern technology as he said: “We broadcasters should continue to improve ourselves with technology. Broadcaster doesn’t retire, he continues to work till death.”
Also speaking, the Chairman of BS Media, Alhaji Bola Muibi, who gave lecture on Life after Retirement, charged the retired broadcaster to prioritise his health, saying “after retirement heath deteriorates.”
He encouraged Oluyege to always go for checkup to know the status of his health and regularly do exercise and change his eating habit.
Alhaji Muibi also urged Oluyege to be more business oriented since there will be no regular salaries again.
Dr. Tunji Olalekan, described Oluyege as the humblest man on earth, saying despite being his boss, Oluyege still consulted him to learn more about the rudiment of broadcasting when he joined programme department.
