A wave of grief has swept through the Lagos State civil service following the sudden death of Mrs Serifat Olubukola Talabi, the Director of Procurement at the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA), just four days before her retirement and 60th birthday celebration.

Mrs Talabi reportedly died in a road accident on Saturday, October 18, 2025, after being hit by a vehicle while attempting to cross the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway near the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Camp, Ibafo, Ogun State.

The late director had been eagerly preparing for her Thanksgiving, Retirement and 60th Birthday Celebration, scheduled for October 22, 2025, at the NERDC Conference Centre, Ikeja, Lagos. Invitations had already been distributed to family, friends, and colleagues.

Sources close to the family described her passing as “a cruel twist of fate,” coming just days before a milestone event marking both her career and personal achievements.

Colleagues across several ministries have expressed deep sorrow over her death, remembering her as a dedicated public servant and a mentor to many within the Lagos civil service.

Tributes continue to pour in as the state mourns one of its respected senior officials.
