Akinpelu Johnson Launches Alimosho 2026 Budget, Emphasizes Transparency

The Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, on Wednesday, December 11, 2025, officially opened the 2026 Budget and Annual Procurement Retreat at Osmark Hotel and Suites, Akala Road, Ibadan, Oyo State. The event gathered top government officials, department heads, procurement officers, partners, and stakeholders to discuss the local government’s fiscal and governance priorities for the coming year.
Describing the retreat as a defining moment for Alimosho, the Chairman said the decisions made would shape grassroots development and positively affect the lives of millions of residents. He noted that the 2026 budget, themed “Budget of Restoration and Renewed Progress,” reflects the administration’s commitment to rebuilding trust, restoring confidence, and accelerating inclusive development.
Hon. Johnson explained that the budget is designed to rehabilitate critical infrastructure, revive economic opportunities for youths, women, and artisans, and restore dignity to governance at the grassroots. He emphasized that development outcomes must be visible, equitable, and sustainable across all wards in Alimosho.
The 2026 fiscal plan is anchored on the WISE Agenda, which prioritizes Welfare, Infrastructure, Service Delivery, and Empowerment. Initiatives under the plan include the “Ounje Alimosho” half-price food market, strategic infrastructure projects to boost economic growth, improved service delivery, and empowerment programs for youths and women.
Speaking on procurement, the Chairman stressed its central role in achieving development objectives, describing it as the bedrock of public service delivery. He urged procurement officers and stakeholders to uphold transparency, fairness, proper documentation, competitive bidding, and value for money, aligning with national and global best practices.
Hon. Johnson encouraged participants to actively engage during the retreat, share experiences, ask questions, and adopt innovative approaches to strengthen Alimosho’s procurement framework. He also commended organizers for their dedication to capacity building and the promotion of ethical standards in public service.
In conclusion, the Chairman reaffirmed his administration’s vision for a more accountable, transparent, and responsive Alimosho Local Government. He expressed confidence that the retreat would pave the way for a people-centered 2026 budget, drive renewed progress, and leave Alimosho better positioned for sustainable development.
