Lagos Lawmaker Says Nigeria Deserves Commendations, Not Threats

A Lagos lawmaker has called for global commendations rather than threats to Nigeria, highlighting the progress the country has achieved under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Hon. Adewale Temitope Adedeji, representative of Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency I at the Lagos State House of Assembly, urged U.S. President Donald Trump to reconsider his position on recent developments in Nigeria.
Adedeji said President Tinubu is aware of the nation’s challenges and has been actively strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture, as demonstrated by the recent appointments in the Nigerian Armed Forces.
“President Bola Tinubu, as a father, is not happy that bandits, terrorists, or any other groups have tried to downplay the gains of the administration, just as they did with previous governments,” the lawmaker said.
He added that the President’s new service chiefs have been directed to put a final end to insecurity in the country. “The current administration will never pamper terrorists or their sponsors,” Adedeji emphasized.
On economic progress, the lawmaker noted that countries and global organisations have recognised Nigeria’s recent growth. He highlighted falling inflation, increased foreign investments, revitalised industries, and the strengthening of the nation’s currency as signs of the administration’s success.
“For the first time, sub-national governments are comfortable because they now have a level of economic power,” Adedeji said.
He urged global partners, especially the United States, to collaborate with Nigeria in the interest of its citizens. “Our youth and citizens must continue to be patient and trust in the Renewed Hope Agenda of the government. We must encourage Nigeria’s new service chiefs to meet expectations and stop insurgents in the country. Let’s continue to support the government’s giant strides, knowing the results will match our yearnings,” he said.
