As the world celebrates World Teachers’ Day 2025, the Chairman of the Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government Administration, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Hon. Sanni Ganiyu Babatunde Okanlawon, has commended teachers across Nigeria for their unwavering dedication and invaluable contributions to nation-building.
Representing Kosofe Constituency 01, Okanlawon described teachers as “the cornerstone of national progress and the architects of the nation’s future.” He emphasized that the 2025 theme,
“Recasting Teaching as a Collaborative Profession,” highlights the urgent need to create stronger partnerships that empower educators and reinforce their professional excellence.
“Teachers are not just transmitters of knowledge; they are mentors, innovators, and leaders in shaping young minds. When we give them the right support, training, and recognition, we are investing directly in the future of our nation,” he stated.
Okanlawon called for enhanced collaboration among teachers, policymakers, and education stakeholders to ensure that the education system meets the demands of a rapidly changing world. He noted that for Nigeria to achieve sustainable educational transformation, teachers must be equipped and inspired to drive inclusion, innovation, and lifelong learning.
Reaffirming his commitment to advancing educational reform in Lagos State, the lawmaker assured that he will continue to support policies and initiatives that uplift the teaching profession and improve learning environments.
“Our teachers deserve more than applause they deserve opportunities, respect, and the tools to thrive. The strength of our future depends on their passion and resilience,”
Okanlawon extended warm congratulations to all teachers across Lagos and Nigeria, celebrating them as the unsung heroes who light the path toward a brighter, more educated society.
