The Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced N8,561,013.67 as the fare for intending pilgrims to the 2026 Hajj exercise in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Board’s Secretary, Mr. AbdulHakeem Ajomagberin, disclosed this in a statement at the weekend, noting that the figure aligns with the fares released by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) for the 2026 pilgrimage.
NAHCON Chairman, Prof. Abdullahi Sale Usman, had earlier announced that intending pilgrims from southern states, including Lagos, will pay N8.56m, while those in the Maiduguri-Yola zone (Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, and Taraba) will pay N8.11m, and other northern states will pay N8.24m.
Ajomagberin said the clarification would end uncertainties over the actual fare, giving intending pilgrims and stakeholders time to plan adequately. He urged those who had already made part-payments to complete their balance before the new deadline of December 31, 2025, as announced by NAHCON.
He explained that Lagos pilgrims could pay in three instalments via bank drafts from any commercial bank in favour of the Board.
On preparations for the 2026 Ramadan Umrah, the Board’s secretary revealed that the lowest package has been fixed at N5.7 million, with additional packages available depending on affordability and choice.
Ajomagberin assured that the state would continue to provide a comfortable and supportive atmosphere for pilgrims to perform both Hajj and Umrah with ease.
Lagos had earlier announced N8.5 million as an initial deposit, with October 8, 2025, set as the deadline. However, with NAHCON’s official confirmation of fares and a new deadline, intending pilgrims are expected to make timely payments.
