Foundation Charges Students On Examination Success

None fewer than 2,000 pupils have been empowered by a Foundation with tips on  excelling in their forthcoming examinations.

The Girls in Charge Foundation, providing the empowerment for the students, stated through it’s Convener, Victory Oyakhilome, that the initiative tagged, “Empower to Succeed Conference 2.0’ was held to provide guidance and support to youths, especially those preparing for their West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination, WASSCE, and Joint Admissions Matriculation Board, JAMB, examination.

Oyakhilome mentioned that the group is keen on supporting the students through mentorship, JAMB scholarships, teaching leadership and exam preparation skills.

The group convener added that the Foundation prepares the pupil’s minds positively by involving JAMB and WASSCE  officials to teach them about all that is necessary to prepare for the exams, and sensitize on subject combination.

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by the Acting Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund, LSETF, Feyisara Alayande, highlighted the significance of youths speaking up and leveraging their community and network.

Sanwo-Olu admonished the pupils to focus and apply the knowledge gained during their schooling to attain success.

He said: “Don’t let the position you are in define you. Make sure you know who you are and always keep learning in order to attain success in life”.

“Our youths should take advantage of the training program.and mentorship initiatives to prepare themselves for success.”

One of the beneficiaries of the empowerment, Ogaa Gabriel, expressed delight on the empowerment.

He said, “Through this programme. I have learnt never to give up, never to procrastinate, and never join bad peers to avoid making bad decisions.”

Another, Priscila David, appreciated the Foundation for the gesture. She said: “I am an introvert but speaking at this event has made me change that narrative.

“This event made me realize that I have to keep pursuing my dreams no matter the obstacles.”
