Lagos State Football Association (LSFA) Chairman, Gafar Liameed, has expressed his enthusiasm over the recent success of the Girls Mentorship Program held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan.

The program, which aimed to boost female football development, has exceeded Liameed’s expectations. He commended the Female Football Development Adhoc Committee Chairperson, Raliat Abdulsalam, for her innovative approach in imparting knowledge to young girls.

“This program has been a long time coming,” Liameed said. “It has allayed my concerns about the development of female football. We’ve done a great job executing this initiative.”

The LSFA boss emphasized the program’s significance for various stakeholders, including himself, the association’s board, Abdulsalam, and the entire Lagos football community.

He highlighted the program’s focus on ensuring young girls can excel both academically and athletically.

“We’re committed to providing a conducive environment for these girls to play football,” Liameed stated. “With the support of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, we will continue to improve their conditions, including nutrition and facilities.”

To guarantee the safety of the participants, the LSFA implemented robust security measures, including a neighborhood watch. Additionally, medical personnel from LASAMBUS conducted physical and medical examinations to ensure the players were fit to participate.

While the girls did not play for five consecutive hours, they engaged in various fitness exercises to prepare them for the matches.
