The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, DSVA, has established an online initiative to protect children from sexual abuse.

“I Am A Child” Initiative is an online educational preventive tool curated for the minors which gives them access to available resources on Sexual and Gender Based Violence, and other related issues, as relayed by the Coordinator of DSVA, Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi.

Vivour-Adeniyi disclosed that the initiative is one of the ways the Lagos State Government has leveraged technology in dealing with the menace of sexual violence on children.

The agency’s director also stated that the government is keen on ensuring that children are equipped with information on how to protect themselves from becoming victim of the dastadly act in their environment.

She said that the measure for children within ages 5-12 years features two beginner courses: Your Rights as a Child and My Body My Passport of Rights which is an intermediate course.

Vivour-Adeniyi said, “I AM A CHILD” is live hence we implore schools, parents/guardians to facilitate and encourage their wards to take the free courses on the website www.iamachild.org.ng.

“We use this medium to urge parents to take advantage of this resource to educate their children and wards especially during the holidays.

“Finally, it is our hope that this Online Certified Course would assist children with recognizing and preventing abuse.”
