The vibrant city of Lagos is abuzz with excitement as the Lagos State Female Football Development Committee gears up to host a transformative one-day training and mentorship program for young girls.

Scheduled for Saturday, August 10th, from 9 AM to 5 PM at the iconic Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, the event promises a day filled with inspiration, skill development, and empowerment.

Targeted at girls aged 7 to 15, the program aims to nurture athleticism, teamwork, and leadership qualities. Beyond football, the initiative seeks to equip young minds with financial literacy, providing a holistic approach to personal development.

To recognize the participants’ dedication, certificates and jerseys will be awarded. Simultaneously, the Football Coaches Association of Africa Nations (FCAAN) will impart invaluable coaching knowledge to those aspiring to guide the next generation of footballers.

Committee Chairman, Raliat Abdulsalam, emphasized the program’s broader goals.

“Our focus extends beyond football. We want to empower these young girls with the tools to succeed in various fields, including coaching, refereeing, physiotherapy, sports law, management, and journalism.”

By identifying and nurturing talent at a young age, the LSFA hopes to create a pipeline of female football professionals. Abdulsalam further highlighted the committee’s commitment to addressing gender inequality and challenges faced by young girls.

“This is a pioneering initiative in Nigeria, born from our passion for empowering the female football ecosystem.”

The event is expected to draw a diverse crowd, including female footballers, coaches, referees, club owners, administrators, parents, and football enthusiasts.
