Company Manager On Trial For Stealing Goods Worth N14.9m

A man identified as Folami Sunday is facing prosecution for allegedly stealing goods in a company.

Sunday stole the goods worth N14,900,000 at the firm, Pro Drivers Africa, Surulere, Lagos while being an employee as a logistics manager, as relayed by the police prosecutor, Chekwube Okeh.

Okeh said that the accused is on trial on three-count charge of property theft, breach of peace and stealing.

At the Magistrates’ Court in Yaba, the prosecutor mentioned that Okeh commited the act on May 5, 2023, at No. 55, Ogunlana street, Lagos, where the company is situated.

He said, “The defendant, on May 5, 2023, stole goods valued at N14,900,000 from the company, Pro Drivers Africa situated at No. 55, Ogunlana, Surulere Lagos.

”The stolen items which include Oral B toothpaste worth N12,100,000 and 853 cartons of Gino tomato paste valued at N2,700,000 was meant to be delivered to a customer.

“The defendant tricked his employer by registering Hanover Logistic Solution belonging to him in the name of one Obaduyi Oluwafemi into Pro Drivers Africa to cause damage and loss to the company.

“The offences commited contravened Sections 21, 168(d) and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. Section 287 prescribes three years of imprisonment for stealing,” the prosecutor stated.

The Magistrate, Linda Balogun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N2 million with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case till October 7.
