Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA Chairman Visits Abowa at Ipebi

Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area, Mr. Wale Anomo has visited the Abowa of Agbowa-Ikosi, His Royal Majesty, Oba Momson Owolabi Saheed (Mabudeje III), as he observed the ongoing Ipebi ritual.

This highly revered traditional ritual is a significant and time-honoured tradition in Yoruba culture, signifying a period of seclusion and purification for newly installed kings.

The Ipebi ceremony is a crucial element of Yoruba culture, serving to prepare the king for his role and responsibilities while preserving the cultural heritage of the Yoruba people.

During his visit, Akogun Wale Anomo who was also in the company of His vice, Alhaji Wasiu Dehinsilu, conveyed his deep respect and admiration for the Abowa of Agbowa-Ikosi. He expressed his delight at the Agbowa’s ascension to the throne during his tenure as Chairman and emphasized the importance of preserving and celebrating Yoruba traditions. He further reiterated his belief in the cooperative and productive partnership between the LCDA and the traditional institution, which he expects to continue seamlessly under the new Abowa’s reign, fostering development and harmony within the community.

The visit underscored Akogun Anomo’s commitment to supporting and collaborating with the traditional leadership, further strengthening the strong bond within the Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA.

As the Ipebi ceremony progresses, the people of Agbowa-Ikosi eagerly anticipate the successful conclusion of this important tradition and look forward to the coronation ceremony.
