Valiant FC chairman, Japheth Zubairu is delighted with the club for winning the The Creative Championship (TCC) Cup third edition at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan.
Valiant FC produced a magical comeback to equal the score line at 2-2 against Gbagada FC before winning the tie through the penalty shootout.
The club’s chairman, Japheth Zubairu told Echonews.ng exclusively that he’s highly impressed with the performance of the lads and this will be an extra motivation for the players.
Japheth is optimistic that the TCC is a qualitative league and it will help in repositioning the club towards the future.
“I’m very happy been our first trophy in the TCC, we have been a pioneer member of the league and we have had a couple of trophies in the last three seasons and we are very fortunate to have won this trophy. It’s going to be an extra motivation and I’m very excited about this,” he said.
“Yes, TCC has been built to be a very qualitative league, so yes it’s a quality trophy for us. It will go a long way in motivating our boys and repositioning themselves towards the future.”
The sport administrator added that he wasn’t under any pressure in the game because the team is still a work in progress.
“Not really under any pressure, if you follow the league closely yes we came last but we have the best team to say I will be honest. You will notice that in every game that we loose, there’s a bit of inexperience, a little bit of glitch and it’s due to the composition of our team, it’s a work in progress and they tend to play very well. So most of the time, the result is not a true reflection of our performance. Seen as an underdog before the game, but now we have won the trophy.”
