The organiser of the annual CY Unity Cup, Cyprian Ukpai, has disclosed that the form to participate in the annual football competition would be on sale as soon as the lockdown on football is eased.

Ukpai, who promised that the tournament would still hold said the management was waiting for the green light from the government for football to resume, saying it is only then that CY Unity Cup could hold.

He noted that the competition form was supposed to have been on sale since first week of July but due to the lockdown on football as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, it has been put on hold.

“The government has not given the football community clearance to resume activities so, we are still expecting government to lift the ban on football.

“The form for the competition was supposed to have been on sale since the first week of July but due to the ban on football related activities as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, we had to put it on hold for now and await further information from the government.”

He appealed to government to consider reopening football, saying the grassroots football clubs across Lagos State have started inquiring about when the competition will hold.
