NGO supports government to fight against COVID-19

A Non Governmental Organisation (NGO), Yield Africa Foundation, has made a move to support the effort of the government in curtailing community spread of Covid-19.

The Foundation, known for empowering youths and women through skill acquisition training, has embarked on sensitising the residents of Oshodi-Isolo LG and donated face masks to the local government authority.

The group took its sensitisation advocacy and protective materials to the the people on the streets and market stalls in Oshodi community.

While receiving the materials from the organisation at the local council Secretariat, the Vice Chairman, TPL Daisi Osho commended the Foundation for supporting the government in the fight against COVID-19.

He encouraged the group not to relent in working towards the development of the community as he pledged local government’s support for its subsequent programmes.

After presenting the face masks to the local government, the group moved to the markets and streets of Oshodi to sensitise people on the effects of coronavirus while distributing protective and writing materials such as nose covers, face shield, exercise books and pens to people.

Speaking on the gesture, the Yield National Coordinator, Olatunde Martins said the organisation deemed is necessary to support the government to to protect the residents against contracting the virus, promising that gesture would taken to other communities in Oshodi-Isolo LGA.

Martins explained that the writing materials (books/pens) were distributed to encourage students to study more at home while schools are still under lock.

He advised the youths to always think on what they can do for the community rather than what they can take it as he promised that the Foundation would embark on its free skill acquisition training as soon as the environment is safe for people.
