The Redeem Christian Church of God (RCCG) Faith Sanctuary’s road project on Apo ESO Street, Ejigbo has been halted by the Community Development Association until engineers from the Ejigbo LCDA explain where water from the drains would go.

RCCG had complained that the residents disallowed it from executing its Community Social Responsibility on road project within the community despite getting approval from the LCDA.

The church stated that its attempt to make the Apo ESO Street motorable and to link the street to Power line and Falana Street with culvert by leveling up the road for easy access was being frustrated by the CDA..

The church’s project committee told ECHONEWS that it got the local government’s approval with the backup of the council engineers.

The committee claimed that some house owners in the community linking to Falana including the Falana CDA chairman rose to stop the work last week, insisting that the council engineer must supervise the project.

However, when contacted on the matter, the Falana CDA Chairman, Mr. Olalekan Adekale, said: “We stopped the church from doing the road because the streets have no good drainages to have flood control, we told them that until we see the council engineer to show us the strategy to be used on the road, we won’t allow anything to be done. We just need the engineer’s opinion that’s all.”

The Council Engineer, Engr. Jide, when contacted and asked on the delay from the council engineer to show up at the community, said: “The Church’s proposal ophas been approved. We are still strategising because there are lots of works at hand this period.

“We are aware of the situation because some landlords in the area are afraid that the road will be diverting water to their houses. That is the reason for the resistance. But we are on top of the situation, and before the end of this week, we will show up to settle things so that the work can start fully next week.”
