The Chairman of Ejigbo Local Government, Hon. Monsuru Bello Obe and other Old Students of Ejigbo High School have laid the first set of blocks to build a block of new six classrooms for both the junior and senior secondary school of the institution.

The landmark event which took place on December 28, 2019 in the school premises had the council boss in high spirits with other present members of the 87/88 set of the school.

The visibly happy council chairman said: “It was a planned gesture by active members of the 87/88 Old Students of the school which I’m very much a part of and this has been put in place to help develop the citadel of learning which has produced great minds who are now leaders of different disciplines in all sphere of our society.”

He said looking back to the society that raised them is a form of appreciating God who created human being with the ability to move around acquiring knowledge and skills to sustain his life.

He said it is necessary to look back to that society, platform or institution to reward them as a function of being honoured and pay back.

He said: “What the 87/88 set is trying to do is to show appreciation that we have passed through this school. As stakeholders in the community, it will be worthy to look back to the citadel of knowledge where we began our life.

“So, it beholds us to give thanks to God Almighty, to also look back at that institution to find solutions to their challenges.”

He also spoke on the state of the dilapidated structures, level of decayed infrastructures of the school and inadequate number of classrooms which had been a major challenge.

Among the gifts to the school by the alumni is a public address system worth N135,000 presented to the school principal, Mrs. Bassey to aid communication in the school premises.

The pioneering principal of the school, Mrs. A. J. Akintayo appreciated the gesture by the 1987/88 set for remembering the school that groomed them.

The incumbent principal, Mrs. Bassey was hopeful that with a block of six classrooms presented by the 1987/88 set, other amenities would be supplied by other sets.
