According to Wahab, the markets were  closed because the 2017 Environmental Management Protection Law’s  stipulations were broken.

The sealed markets were; Awolowo Ultra Modern Market Ojuwoye, Ojuwoye Market Odi-Olowo, Mushin Main Market, Daleko Market, and Odo Ashimowu Market.

Wahab tweeted “As I instructed, operatives of Lagos Waste Management Authority @Lawma_gov in conjunction with @LAGESCOfficial (KAI) in the early hours of today, November 12, sealed 5 markets in the Mushin and Odi-Olowo Local Council areas”.

It would be recalled that for some months now, the state government had sealed markets over environmental infractions.
