LASUTH Caters For 22 Dialysis Sessions Daily, As Hospital Unveils Modern Infrastructure
No fewer than 22 dialysis sessions are cater for daily and 660 monthly by the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, the Chief Medical Director of the facility,Prof. Adetokunbo. O. Fabamwo has said.
He disclosed this at the Second Quarter Media Briefing organised by LASUTH to brief the citizens about its medical infrastructure projects and unique healthcare services available to the public.
He said that the hospital had witnessed an impressive medical infrastructural transformation in recent times. He emphasisedthat LASUTH is committed to being at the forefront of healthcare delivery in Nigeria through excellent services.
According to him, the Dialysis Unit in the new SSC building caters for a minimum of 22 sessions daily and 660 dialysis sessions monthly, saying “This in addition to the existing six dialysis machines in the Critical Care Unit (CCU) of LASUTH”.
“Likewise, our Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory which was established in September 2022 has so far had 120 different procedures done. The spectrum of these procedures ranges from Coronary Procedures (for heart attack), Permanent Pacemaker, Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators, CRTD, Device Closures for Holes in the Heart and other vascular procedures”, he added.
He revealed that LASUTH has recently completed several modern Medical Infrastructural Projects including a new Multipurpose Medical Building acquired through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the former President of Nigeria, Mohammed Buhari, on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) and commissioned for use by Governor Babajide OlusolaSanwo-Olu, describing the building as well equipped with modern medical care facilities.
According to him, “The new Multipurpose Medical Building which comprises four medical schools in the areas of Anaesthesia Technology, Echo Cardiograph, Orthopaedic Cast Technology and Post Graduate Nursing, also houses the Family Medicine Department, Dietetics Department, Managed Care Unit, Immunization Clinic, Private Wards, Super Executive Private Wards, 20-bed Intensive Care Unit, a Spa and a Gym, amongst others. This facility will significantly raise the status of LASUTH as a leading centre of excellence in healthcare service delivery”, he said.
He averred that another building project completed by LASUTH is the Special Services Centre (SSC) which is intended to bridge the gap in the healthcare sector and solve the challenges of interventional procedures. Fabamwo said that the SSC accommodates a Dialysis Unit, a Bronchoscopy Suite, a Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory and an Endoscopy Suite.
While informing that the ultra-modern House Officers’ Quarters and an Ambulance Bay are also among the completed building project by the hospital, he listed some ongoing and soon-to-be-completed projects as the Resident Doctor’s Quarters, Female Medical Ward and Paediatric Sickle Cell Centre to care for children with sickle cell disorder.
