Nigeria skipper, Wilfred Ndidi has revealed the national team is focused on their tricky 2025 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) round of 16 encounter against Mozambique in Fes, Morocco.

The Super Eagles has a terrific run in the group stage by winning all three matches convincingly.

Ndidi believes the Eagles won’t have a repeat of the disappointment experienced in the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon where they lost the round of 16 tie to Tunisia despite having a three game win run in the group stage.

He expects a physical encounter against the Mambas but maintained that Nigeria is positioned to be the focus in the game.

“This is a new team, and most of the players here watched it on TV. That moment is just a reminder and has nothing to do with us. We just want to try our best to deliver and remain focused on the present and ourselves. They are a very good team, they want to play, they are very aggressive, they play like a team,” he said.

“So we’ve seen the team we’ve watched their group stage game we know they fight but the main focus is about us, it is about how we approach the game, how we want it.”

The Eagles captain maintained that his teammates are focused and won’t give chances to underrate any team.

“So we just focus on the game but they are a very good team, no team in this tournament should be underrated.”

Nigeria faces Mozambique in the round of 16 of the 2025 AFCON on Monday, January 5th at the Fez Stadium, Fes.
