Nigeria winger, Moses Simon is unperturbed about the fears of Algeria as both teams set out for the 2025 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) quarter final cracker at the Stade de Marrakech on Saturday, December 10.

The Dessert Warriors knocked out the Super Eagles at the semifinal of the 2019 AFCON in Egypt courtesy of a last minute free kick by Riyad Mahrez.

Simon played down any ambition of a revenge from the players while he focused on the preparatory and mentality of his teammates against the familiar foes.

“What I’ll say is that we don’t have anything about revenge in our mindset, we just want to play. We’re a team that works everyday to progress, and to win, due to the mentality. So I cannot tell you that the North African teams are teams that are giving us trouble, because we too are teams that are giving them trouble because we just kicked them out,” Simon said at the prematch Press Conference at Marrakech.

The tricky winger believes all the teams at the 2025 AFCON are equal and the Super Eagles will not entertain any act of complacency from their teammates.

“You know the last game, we beat the Tunisia team, of course the Tunisia team is one of the best teams in Africa, so it’s not time to talk about teams.

“Every team is really good in this competition, you can see every African teams now, they are good and they progress a lot. So there is no small team, and there’s no big team anymore.”

The Paris FC forward further confirmed of no rancour in the Super Eagles camp as all players work together to get the job done against Algeria.

“We’re all teams and of course we are united, as you can see, before they score, someone gives them the ball to score. So, of course I feel great and I think they have it in them, but me, I will say yes of course, we play for them if it’s another word to say because there are two African best players, which of course we’re working all together as a team, as a coach also, for a goal. So there’s no time for who’s the best, and who’s not the best. The most important thing, the teams are the best, we all are the best. We just want to win.”

The Super Eagles will trade tackles with the Dessert Warriors in the quarter final of the 2025 AFCON at the Stade de Marrakech on Saturday, December 10 in Morocco.
