The Council Leader, Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Lanre Akinbowale has charged the revenue committee of the LCDA to work harder to generate more revenue for the council by increasing their sensitisation of the people.
He said this at the plenary session when the House engaged the revenue committee led by its chairman, Mr. Ayodele Ayodeji. Other members were the council treasurer, Mrs. Owolabi and area officers.
The council leader stressed that the outbreak of coronavirus and crude oil pricing will affect the monthly allocation of local governments and put pressure on government for more revenue to provide services.
He said the local government would have to look inwards at this time to generate revenue to be able to meet up with its expenditures, adding that through execution of the budget may depend on the level of internally generated revenue.
“The issue of the COVID-19 epidemic that has grounded the economy is going to going to affect the monthly allocation of the local council, hence we need to look inward so that we can continue to provide quality service delivery and developmental projects in Ejigbo LCDA.”
Akinbowale therefore charged the committee to go out to get the bills from the people as the bills for payment has been dispatched to the people, reiterating that the team needed to go out for the enforcement.
