To widen the sources from which the local government could generate more revenue to fund its 2020 budget, the legislative arm of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has promised to enact more bye laws.
According to the council leader, Hon. Lanre Akinbowale, such laws would boost the current internally generated revenue (IGR) base and enable the council execute more projects.
Akinbowale, who spoke exclusively with ECHONEWS on the legislature’s plan for the new fiscal year emphasised that the laws would centre on improving revenue generation for the council, stating that the bill on revenue is important as the availability of funds would lead to more benefits for the residents.
“Most of the time the funds to execute those projects are limited, hence the legislative arm tries to identify ways of improving the revenue generation for the council for the development of the community.
“Parts of the bills to be passed into law are general tariff bye law, Radio & Television bye law and Regulation of car wash.”
The council leader however urged the people to keep believing in the government and cooperate with it to ensure a better community.
He however said the councilors were still expecting the presentation of the 2020 budget by the executive arm for timely passing into law.
