Sanwo-olu Empowerment: Lagos presents cheques to 150 beneficiaries

The Lagos State Government, LASG, has presented money cheques to none fewer than 150 persons through an empowerment initiative.

LASG through the Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement disbursed the cheques during the event identified as Sanwo-Olu Cares Social Intervention which is aimed at addressing the needs of Lagosians.

 

Special Adviser to the state’s Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, Tajudeen Afolabi, stated at the occasion that the social intervention programme is one of the various efforts the state’s existing administration is undertaking to improve the lives of vulnerable residents and provide adequate economic empowerment given the ongoing hardship experienced in the country.

Afolabi addressed the gathering saying, “Every eligible and vulnerable citizen has a right to receive the support they need to overcome financial challenges and contribute to the State’s economic growth.

“Hence today’s event symbolizes Mr. Governor’s dedication to his “No One Will Be Left Behind” philosophy. This is just the beginning of our commitment towards ensuring that every Lagosian has the opportunity to thrive. Sanwo-Olu will continue to listen, understand, and respond to the needs of Lagosians”.

The Special Adviser while stating that the recipients were picked without bias said, “The application and selection process was an open one. No form of discrimination in the selection process of the beneficiaries. All the beneficiaries were selected based on their application, with detailed financial needs and how they planned to expend the funds.

“Each beneficiary will be receiving a cheque of varying amounts, tailored to their individual need.”

A recipient, Esther Akinbamire, said “I will use this financial aid for the medical expenses of my son, who is in dire need of urgent medical surgery.

“I thank the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Civic Engagement, Honourable Ruth Lijrin, for promptly coming to her aid and contributing her quota towards the wellbeing of my ailing son.”

Another beneficiary and retiree, Gani Dada, expressed gratitude for the financial relief. He mentioned that the money given to him will help him sort out his medical bills and purchase the drugs needed for his ailment.
