Police have found a 14-year old rape victim declared missing by her parents in the home of her boyfriend three days after she left home.
The names of the lovebirds cannot be published as the girl is 14 and the boy, 15. By law, both are underaged.
But the discovery brought an end to hours of anxiety by her parents who reported her disappearance to the police in Ejigbo fearing that she might have been kidnapped.
The police operatives on the order of the DPO, CSP Olabisi Okuwobi, said they started searching for her immediately her parents reported the matter at the station.
The police, who had arrested the boy on allegation of abducting the girl, were surprised when she owned up to visiting the boy and deciding to stay with him.
The little girl, in an attempt to save the boy from the alleged offence, made it clear to the police that her boyfriend only did her a favour by allowing her to keep him company.
There is strong suspicion that the girl may require medical attention as she also revealed that she developed the urge for the opposite sex following a rape incident involving an uncle.
Witnesses said she reportedly told the police: “Yes, my mother sent me on errand to an uncle and he removed my pant and engaged me in sex. I did not tell my mother immediately but later I told her what happened that I was no longer a virgin,” she said.
Echonews’ effort to get the reaction of the mother to her confession was unsuccessful as at the time of going to the press
